Mystery Unveiled: Shiba Inu’s Lead Developer Shytoshi Kusama Appears at Japan’s Web3 Summit”
Shytoshi Kusama, the lead developer of Shiba Inu, continues to keep his true identity hidden despite attending the Web3 conference in Japan. This development unfolded today at the Infinity Venture Summit (IVS), currently being held in Kyoto, Japan.
Kusama made his first public appearance after revealing that he would attend an event to meet Shiba Inu fans at the IVS expo. Interestingly, the lead developer of Shiba Inu kept his promise by attending the event in person.
Maintaining Anonymity:
However, he attended the IVS conference wearing a masked outfit, concealing his identity from the public. Videos and photos of the masked Kusama spread widely within the Shiba Inu community. According to footage from a Japanese SHIB community member, Kuro, conference attendees exchanged pleasantries with Kusama during a meet-and-greet session at the Shiba Inu booth.
WeCreate3, a student community on the Web3 network in Japan, also shared clips from their brief meeting with Kusama, revealing plans for future collaboration with Shiba Inu.
Community’s Reaction to Kusama’s Anonymity:
As expected, Kusama’s public appearance at the IVS conference sparked mixed reactions among cryptocurrency enthusiasts. While some praised Kusama for attending the event in person, others expressed their frustration with his ongoing efforts to hide behind a mask, suggesting that SHIB fans at the event should unmask him.
Currently, Kusama’s true identity remains unknown. Notably, the Shiba Inu project was launched in August 2022 by an anonymous developer or group of developers using the pseudonym “Ryoshi.” The pseudonymous founder oversaw the Shiba Inu project for nearly two years until their sudden departure in 2022. Since then, Kusama and his team have taken the helm, leading the project’s ecosystem development.

It’s worth mentioning that Shytoshi and his team manage the Shiba Inu ecosystem. Shiba Inu remains a decentralized token, free from any central authority. Despite the successes Shiba Inu has achieved under his leadership, Kusama has kept his true identity hidden, attributing this decision to his “shy and quiet” nature. Earlier this week, he mentioned that it is time to change this nature and become more assertive in promoting Web3.
