Anonymous Bitcoin Whale Donates to Julian Assange
In a significant gesture, an anonymous Bitcoin whale donated eight Bitcoins, valued at approximately $500,000, to a Bitcoin address owned by Julian Assange’s representatives.
During his recent court appearance in Saipan, Julian Assange reached a plea agreement, concluding his 14-year legal battle. Following his release by a U.S. court under the terms of the plea deal, Assange returned to Australia. On Wednesday, after the 52-year-old pleaded guilty to espionage charges in a Saipan court, his plane landed in Canberra.
As a result of the judge’s decision, Assange was granted the freedom to leave. Judge Manglona remarked that it seemed Assange would be able to leave the courtroom as a free man with this ruling.
Assange had boarded a private plane from the United Kingdom to Saipan, having to pay for it once the plea deal was reached. Fortunately, he quickly received over £300,000 in cash donations and $500,000 from an anonymous whale donation.

In his court address, Assange stated that he believed the charges under the Espionage Act conflicted with First Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution. However, he acknowledged that pressuring sources to disclose confidential materials for publication might be illegal. As part of the plea deal, Assange is required to delete the materials he provided to WikiLeaks.
